Stody Lodge Gardens is open to the public this Sunday 1st May from 1pm - 5pm. Don't miss its stunning magnolias, camellias, early azaleas and rhododendrons, carpets of late daffodils and bluebells.

Entrance is £5, children under 12 free, payable by cash or cheque. Dogs on leads welcome. Delicious homemade teas in aid of Thornage Hall.

Autumnal bounty in the orchard - another legacy of our glorious summer 2025. It has been a particularly fruitful year, thanks to the major remedial prune by Richard & the team of our apple and pear trees in February 2023... they had become very congested. It was hard work and looked brutal on the trees (autumn 2024 was pretty sparse in terms of fruit), but...this is the result a year later!💥🍎🍐. Also, so many plums this year. One bough was so heavy it just dropped off the tree... But what to do with it all? We have been enjoying plums cooked with honey, a bit of butter and a pinch of finely chopped rosemary - important to get the balance right, but if you do, it is delicious with creme fraiche 😋. Yesterday, we poached some pears with honey, cinnamon, orange peel and a pinch of all spice - sensational with vanilla ice cream. Quite a few mice are also enjoying the bounty - resulting in some frenetic (unsuccessful 😅) digging from the Labrador. We filled this basket in 15 mins on a blustery, warm autumnal day - a v happy excursion for all involved. #autumnbounty, #autumn, #orchard, #apples, #pears, #plums, #cooking #pruning

The Dawn Garden is now in its third year and we are just blown away but how much it has filled and matured since last year. Still lots to improve, some gaps that need filling and more dark plum red to add in... the white Rosa Iceberg has more than lived up to its reputation - what a rose! Its scent, bounty of flowers and length of flowering period too. The yew hedges hold the scent in so it's a lovely spot to sit down and while away a few minutes with a very cold drink in this incredible heat 🥵🥰 #whitegarden #herbaceousborder #gardendesign

I can't quite believe it but we're into our final few open days before we close until spring 2026. This month has flown by 🐝. The larger rhododendrons are now out, many under planted with beautiful lily of the valley, and our herbaceous borders are filling up with all sorts of perennial delights. It is such a joy to see peonies, lupins, delphiniums and roses return year after year. Our Hankerchief Tree is in full flow, as are many of our other specimen and mature trees - all quite slow to come into full leaf this year despite the sunshine - has anyone else noticed that? Perhaps lack of rain... Our Classic Vehicle Day is this Sunday and the sun is set to shine 🥳☀️🍺🚘. We can't wait to welcome back hundreds of classic vehicles of all varieties to this brilliant event, now in its 7th year. We have over 200 Harleys and other bikes roaring into the gardens at midday-ish as part of their @distinguishedgentlemansride in aid of prostate cancer research and men's mental health charities. Masses of food and drink: @eastcoastbars @pokenomadventures @smashanddashtruck @woodfiredfoodco @hvgraves.norfolk @field.coffee2024 @chipbuckets plus DJ Julie rocking the orchard with 60s and 70s tunes 🎵🎤🎸. Our sponsors @angliacarauctions will have a pop-up showroom on the main lawn with their finest cars and memorabilia. And the wonderful @norfolkandwaveneymind will be selling tea and cake in the tea rooms. We think the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity team are so fab that we have twinned the colour of our signature Rhodendron 'Cynthia' to exactly the same deep fuschia pink as their branding and t-shirts 🤭. They are doing a roaring trade as I type and our visitors are quaffing down their delicious cakes and savoury treats, either enjoying them in the shaded woodland by the tea rooms or taking them out on to the sunshine filled lawn ☀️. The gardens are peppered with many of our favourite deep pink Rhododendon 'Cynthia' including The Pink Arch, Cynthia Walk and Rhododendron Drive which takes you down to the Azalea Water Gardens. Should we be looking at more original names for our garden areas?! Perhaps!! The gardens are now in full flower 🌸🌼🌺! We are open 1pm -5pm every Wednesday to Friday and each Sunday for the duration of May, as well as Bank Holiday Monday 26th May (our final day.) Each open day will have a different local charity proving homemade teas, giving you a great afternoon out. We can’t wait to welcome our NGS garden aficionados tomorrow, as well as the general public and antique lovers for our @bishopandmillerauctions Valuation Day this coming Sunday. After a further three quieter mid-week open days (13-16 May,) we will then welcome back our classic vehicle lovers on Sunday 18th May. Just picked some flowers for the house. An initial attempt to stick to a sensible colour scheme failed completely as you can see from this overloaded basket. The colour is emerging at pace and every corner of the garden reveals a new azalea or rhododendron bursting into bloom. Just in time for our first open day this Sunday 27 April. We’re open from 1pm to 5pm and teas will be provided by and in aid of the excellent Norwich NSPCC. They fundraised with us last year and do great cake! This is an ideal Sunday to visit if you’d like to take advantage of the garden being quieter before our special events later in the month.
